Chianti Classico DOGC 2021 Casina di Cornia
Castellina in Chianti, Siena
Great Chianti Classico made with 100% Sangiovese grapes.
We are in an area located on the border between the high hills of Chianti and the Val d'Elsa area. The soils are of Pliocene origin, composed of schistose marls, and are therefore rich in limestone, clay, and skeleton. The vineyards can be divided based on micro-environmental differences due to sun exposure and soil nature.
For these reasons, the Sangiovese from each plot is vinified separately to best express these differences and then, in a second step, to select the most representative expression of the territory.
In general, however, the Sangiovese from this area is very powerful, which is why even the basic Chianti Classico undergoes very long aging.
Ruby red with transparency, very straightforward and direct. A warm wine, with a good tannic structure and, as is typical of the area, a round finish. A beautiful representation of this "warm" area of Chianti.

Casina di Cornia
The Soul of a Territory: Casina di Cornia
The company's story began in 1979 when Antoine Luginbühl and his wife Francine, driven by a deep love for this area of Chianti, decided to restore an old farmhouse and plant the first Sangiovese vineyards. From the very first vintages, their production philosophy was organic, placing nature and the ecosystem's balance at the center of their work. This was a personal choice and a constant commitment they never flaunted, convinced that the wines themselves should do the talking.
Since 2011, their sons Anselmo and Julien have taken up the challenge of continuing their parents' work, sharing their vision and constantly pushing the boundaries. Their goal is clear: to minimize their environmental impact to maximize the authentic expression of the terroir and the winery's identity. Continuous research, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, is the key to achieving new milestones. The winery is constantly dedicated to studying increasingly sustainable techniques for controlling plant diseases and to customizing the vinification processes to best enhance the unique characteristics of each individual vineyard.
