Producer: Ezio Trinchero
Vigna del Noce 2016 Barbera d'Asti Superiore DOCG
Agliano Terme, Asti
The "Vigna del Noce" is a very important historical plot for the Trinchero family, as it was planted by the founder of the winery, the great-grandfather of the current owner Ezio Trinchero. The plants are from 1929 and produce this unique wine.
Massive and deep wine, thanks to the concentration and balance of the fruit from the old vineyard, but also thanks to a very important aging in the cellar. Broad and complex nose of dark fruit and spices, in the mouth we would expect a wine all muscle and concentration, instead we are surprised by a sip of great vitality, dense yes but also juicy and overflowing with flavors, important acidity that elevates the structure for a pleasant and mouthwatering drink.
Ezio Trinchero
The Trinchero family has owned this winery since the 1920s; we are in Agliano Terme in the province of Asti, and Barbera of the highest quality has always been grown here. Trinchero was the first winery in Italy to produce and market Barbera for long aging, following the intuition to make wines of great complexity and depth with this once underrated grape.
The highly suitable territory certainly helps, as does the fact of working with almost all old vines, as in the case of the "Vigna del Noce" from which the wine of the same name is made, with plants planted in 1929.
Organic work in the field and a lot of care and cleanliness in the cellar create wines with a wide and deep breath. Rarely does one taste Barbera like this!
The winery is part of the Vini Veri consortium.
