Producer: Il Signor Kurtz
Settantasette 24 Vino Rosso
Vallupina, Perugia
Still red wine, 2024 vintage, born from a harvest that yielded generous, low-alcohol, and delicate grapes. 100% Sangiovese. Harvested in mid-September. Whole-cluster maceration in open vats until the end of alcoholic fermentation. Then aged in stainless steel, and finally bottled in August 2025. It undergoes two rackings before bottling. Unlike the deep, muscular, and dark concentration of the past vintage, this millésime expresses a decidedly more delicate character.
"As always, dedicated to my birth year, which was beautiful and terrible. Joyful, lighthearted, yet also dark and violent. Inspired by the only word I can never pronounce without stumbling. Like a song that was fundamental to me used to say: Chiedi a Settantasette (Ask 77) if you don't know how it's done" says the producer.
Il Signor Kurtz
Il Signor Kurtz isn't just a label; it's the genuine "voice of wine" for Marco Durante, an Umbrian winemaker who has dedicated his mind and body to natural viticulture. After more than twenty years exploring the world of wine, including time as a taster and popularizer, Durante found his true path in uncompromising production.
The name, inspired by the enigmatic character in Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness, evokes a philosophy that celebrates nature in its purest essence: energy and enchantment, rejecting any form of domestication. The heart of the project is located in Vallupina, near Lake Trasimeno, but Marco isn't afraid of contamination. He also works in other "challenging spots within Central Italy's small geography" and collaborates with fellow winemakers to constantly push his own boundaries.
