Vintage 2022, a warm year with rain during the harvest. Merlot and Sangiovese were harvested at the end of August. They were destemmed, crushed, and pressed together. The must was fermented in stainless steel (INOX), without the skins. It was aged in INOX for about 2 years, until July 2024, and then bottled directly. Deep, sharp, inviting, fresh, flavourful.

Dedicated to MILTON, the protagonist of A Private Matter by Beppe Fenoglio—a hero of the Italian Resistance who, while fully immersed in saving his land, is obsessed with the thought of the woman he loves and who may have betrayed him.

Il Signor Kurtz

Il Signor Kurtz isn't just a label; it's the genuine "voice of wine" for Marco Durante, an Umbrian winemaker who has dedicated his mind and body to natural viticulture. After more than twenty years exploring the world of wine, including time as a taster and popularizer, Durante found his true path in uncompromising production.

The name, inspired by the enigmatic character in Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness, evokes a philosophy that celebrates nature in its purest essence: energy and enchantment, rejecting any form of domestication. The heart of the project is located in Vallupina, near Lake Trasimeno, but Marco isn't afraid of contamination. He also works in other "challenging spots within Central Italy's small geography" and collaborates with fellow winemakers to constantly push his own boundaries.
