"Nessun Kurtz" is Marco Durante’s interpretation of an international grape variety, cultivated in the terroir of Vallupina in Umbria.

This sparkling rosé is crafted from 2024 vintage Merlot grapes, a generous harvest that redeems the difficult shortage of 2023. The clusters come from the earliest-ripening section of the vineyard and were harvested at the end of August. Following a two-day maceration without stems and a vertical pressing, the wine ages in stainless steel before undergoing spontaneous re-fermentation in the bottle. It is an essential wine, free of artifice or personalism: a pure expression of freshness and conviviality.

Il Signor Kurtz isn't just a label; it's the genuine "voice of wine" for Marco Durante, an Umbrian winemaker who has dedicated his mind and body to natural viticulture. After more than twenty years exploring the world of wine, including time as a taster and popularizer, Durante found his true path in uncompromising production.

The name, inspired by the enigmatic character in Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness, evokes a philosophy that celebrates nature in its purest essence: energy and enchantment, rejecting any form of domestication. The heart of the project is located in Vallupina, near Lake Trasimeno, but Marco isn't afraid of contamination. He also works in other "challenging spots within Central Italy's small geography" and collaborates with fellow winemakers to constantly push his own boundaries.
