Allergens: contiene solfitiWe complete Yann Durrmann’s "soil trilogy" with his rarest and darkest expression: the 2024 Riesling "Sur Schistes" Rabbari. If the Sur Grès represents air and the Sur Calcaire represents earth, the Rabbari is fire and pure rock.
The terroir here is an absolute geological exception in Alsace: the Villé schist. The Rabbari plot sits upon dark, hard, and ancient metamorphic rock (slate/blue schist). This soil retains no water, forcing the roots to dive deep into the stone crevices, transmitting an almost "ferrous" mineral charge and a tension to the Riesling that you won't find anywhere else.
It is certainly the most austere of the three. Do not expect sweet fruit; here, wet stone dominates, along with notes of medicinal herbs, green tea, and a touch of smokiness typical of schistous soils. With aeration, darker citrus notes like bergamot begin to emerge.
On the palate, it is vertical, but in a different way than the Grès. While the Grès is a blade of light, the schist is an electric shock. It is a dynamic sip, with an acidity that seems to vibrate against the walls of the mouth. The finish is incredibly long, profoundly saline and almost metallic—a sensation that cleanses the palate masterfully.
Riesling Rabbari is a wine for purists. It is a Riesling of immense depth, less accommodating than the previous two, but with an incredible ability to tell the story of the rock itself.

Domaine Durrmann
La Tenuta dei Durrmann si trova nel comune di Andlau, in Alsazia, antico borgo medioevale nel quale si coltiva la vite da più di mille anni.
La cantina è stata creata nel 1979 con alcuni vigneti di proprietà del nonno di Yann, che era un calzolaio. La mancanza di esperienza in ambito vitivinicolo è stata uno svantaggio in quanto sono dovuti partire da zero, ma anche un grosso vantaggio in quanto si sono potuti differenziare sin da subito dalla tradizione ed orientarsi verso un'agricoltura più naturale possibile con una spinta "di pensiero" molto innovativa.
